The glass blowing techniques at Gabriel Glass combine ancient glass blowing methods with new technologies and modern materials. Molten glass in gathered from the glass furnace on a steel blowpipe. It is then brought to the Gaffers bench where it is worked from a liquid state, adding color, and transforming into a solid form. I have two assistants that work for me. They are both highly skilled and have ten years experience between them. Producing a piece takes timing and practice, anticipating each move, and ignoring the blistering heat and smoke generated by the 2000 degree temperatures.
